There are so many attractions in
Seoul for foreigners.
In this posting,
I would like to introduce Dongdaemun
Market where you can feel lively Seoul.
In addition, I'll show you how to get to
Dongdaemun Market by subway.
[How To Get To Dongdaemun Market]
For foreigners,
the easiest and fastest way to get
to Dongdeamun Market is to take
a subway (metro).
[ Option 1 ]
Dongdaemun Station of Subway Line 1, 4
- Exit 8 or Exit 2
(toward Dongdaemun History &
Culture Park Station)
[ Option2 ]

Station of Subway Line 2, 4 or 5 - Exit 14
In my case, I took subway line 4 and
took off at Dongdaemun Station and
exit 8.
As you can see from the photo above,
you can go out using the escalator.
If you come out of the escalator,
you can see Dongdaemun Market
across the street.
When you come out of exit 2
at Dongdaemun Sation of Line 1 or 4,
there is a pedestrian crossing just
in front of you.
If you cross the crosswalk,
Cheonggyecheon is on the right.
If Cheonggyecheon is seen, you've
already come to Dongdaemun market.
Cheonggyecheon is a 10.84km stream
running from Gwanghwamun to
Dongdaemun. You can enjoy the night
view shining under colorful lighting.
Dongdaemun Market is
a large commercial district comprised of
traditional markets and shopping centers
that covers the entire area around
Dongdaemun Gate,
a prominent landmark in Korea.
It is Korea’s largest wholesale and retail
shopping district. All kinds of goods can
be found here including silks and fabric,
clothes, shoes , accessories, electronics,
leather goods, sporting goods, office
supplies, pet products and toys.
Here at Dongdaemun,
visitors may enjoy a unique experience of
both traditional flea markets, as well as
modern shopping mall like Doota,
Hyundai City Outlet, Mileore, etc.
Like Namdaemun Market, Dongdaemun
Market sells a variety of products,
but unlike Namdaemun Market,
it is open 24-hours a day.
That's why Dongdaemun is a top
attraction that is constantly crowded
with international visitors and also
Korean!
Besides Dongdaemun shopping malls,
DDP (Dongdeamun Design Plaza),
a notable landmark of this district,
is another the place to go.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza serves as
a hub for exhibitions, fashion shows,
conferences, and other domestic and
international events.
The building features curved cladding
panels and a mega-sized roof that were
made possible by a three-dimensional
molding process.
